Meghan E. Wilson, Ph.D. is a writer, public policy scholar, community advocate and developer. Dr. Wilson is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Michigan State University, where she studies the intersection of financial markets and political institutions effects on systemically marginalized people- with a focus on the urban city. Her current manuscript details the relationship between public finance and political participation in the State of Michigan. Using mixed methods, Dr. Wilson explores the ways that political and social engagement shifts as local entities navigate crippling debt and substantive cuts to public services.
Dr. Wilson has spent over 15 years building up a portfolio of projects committed to social equity and racial justice as the state and local government, as well as in with the private sector. Her non-academic work is focused on building and sustaining social and economic power for the marginally situated.
